🏘️ Saugeen Shores dedicated a street to Duncan Hawthorne, former Bruce Power CEO, honoring his regional contributions. Mayor Charbonneau praised Hawthorne's leadership in transforming Bruce Power into a world-leading facility. Hawthorne's tenure saw significant economic growth, job creation, and increased power output, securing the site's operation until 2064. He remains a philanthropic supporter of local healthcare initiatives.
🪦 Saugeen Shores officials are frustrated with the provincial government's refusal to fund preservation efforts for the eroding Southampton Pioneer Cemetery. Mayor Charbonneau emphasizes the urgency, as graves are washing into the Saugeen River. Councillors suggest inviting MPP Lisa Thompson for a site visit to highlight the critical need for financial assistance.
🍷 LCBO staff in Grey Bruce initiated rotating pickets due to failed contract negotiations. Union president Sandy Cunha reports motivated strikers seeking job security, CPP, and benefits for part-timers. About 25 Saugeen Shores workers are affected. Pickets continue at various locations, with staff from different areas joining in solidarity.
♿️ Saugeen Shores introduces free WaterWheels floating wheelchairs at select beaches, available for day use from July 5 to Labour Day. Mayor Charbonneau emphasizes the town's commitment to equal access. Wheelchairs can be booked online for two daily periods at Port Elgin's Harbour Office and Southampton's Long Dock Parking area. Accessible beach mats are also available.

🌮 Southampton Rotary Club held its Changeover Dinner, transferring presidency from Dave Bertrand to Tony Sheard. The event celebrated achievements and announced over $20,000 in recent donations to local and international causes.
📚 Saugeen District Senior School celebrated 132 Grade 8 graduates, with Cayden Cumming and Tori Gruberbauer sharing the Valedictorian Award. Numerous students received various awards recognizing academic excellence, community involvement, and personal growth across different subjects and activities.
