๐ Parking problems: A study found ample parking available in the downtowns of Port Elgin and Southampton, Ontario, contrary to public perception. While some prime areas saw high occupancy, plenty of underutilized spaces were available nearby. The study recommended low-cost strategies like improved signage and parking guides to direct people to these open spaces rather than costly infrastructure projects.
๐ Transit: Bruce County councillors approved allocating $26,500 to fund 50% of the cost for Grey Transit Route 5 between Wiarton and Owen Sound for the last four months of 2024. This comes after Grey County decided to cease funding the route on September 2nd due to budget cuts. South Bruce Peninsula agreed to cover the other 50% to keep Route 5 operating until the end of the year. The funding from Bruce County comes from leftover money originally allocated for a transit feasibility study.
