🎆 The article describes Saugeen Shores' 25th anniversary celebration, featuring street dances, a mock wedding, parades, and live music. Ontario's Lieutenant Governor Edith Dumont attended, participating in events and touring local sites. The festivities included a time capsule sealing, family activities, and a heritage plaque unveiling honoring Jack Stafford's contributions to horse racing and local agriculture.

🛣️ Saugeen Shores council approved a $2.6 million agreement with the Ministry of Transportation to resurface 4.2 km of Goderich St. in Port Elgin. The project, 90% funded by the Ministry, will maintain existing Maple Leaf brickwork. Work includes road leveling, recoloring faded bricks, and implementing a "grind and bind" process. The project also involves stormwater improvements, signage, and potential bike lanes.

🔋 Bruce Power submitted plans to expand output by 4,800 megawatts at its Tiverton site. The project, potentially Canada's first nuclear construction in 30+ years, faces assessment under federal regulations. It aims to meet Ontario's growing electricity demand, with construction possibly lasting until 2045. Public feedback is invited until September 12, 2024.

🏊‍♀️ Grey Bruce Public Health lifted the swim advisory at Southampton Beach after water samples showed safe bacterial levels. The advisory, in place since August 2, was a precautionary measure against health risks. Officials thanked the public for compliance and advised using caution when swimming, especially after rainfall or when water conditions are poor.

🎺 Southampton Rotary launches used instrument drive for local schools, inspired by GC Huston's request. The initiative includes community donations and auction proceeds to support music education. Drop-off locations are at Three Sheets Brewing Tap and Martin's Bicycle Shop.

🏝️ Sauble Beach Sandfest faced windy conditions, but still attracted sand sculptors and visitors. Six teams competed, plus three professional sculptors. The event, organized by the local Chamber of Commerce, supports businesses and includes other summer activities.
