🛣️ A consultant's study found a single-lane roundabout is the preferred option over traffic signals or doing nothing to improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and meet future demands at the Railway St. and McNabb St. intersection in Southampton. The Town is awaiting potential provincial funding approval for the project within a Connecting Link. If not approved, the Town will explore other options, including short-term pedestrian improvements.
đź’Š Kristen's Pharmacy in Southampton has joined MedEssist, allowing pharmacists to provide assessments and treatments for certain conditions like shingles and birth control prescriptions. The owner, Kristen Watt, highlights the limited scope of practice for Ontario pharmacists compared to other provinces and aims to bridge the gap by offering expanded services through MedEssist's collaborative prescribing model, providing accessible primary care options for residents without family doctors.
🏠In the first two months of 2024, 33 households experiencing homelessness in Grey and Bruce counties moved into the local supported housing system. A collaborative by-name list and prioritization policies are helping connect 170 identified homeless households, including 126 experiencing chronic homelessness, with appropriate housing and support services. However, challenges remain due to limited transitional and supportive units, and economic barriers to exiting supportive housing.
