🥕 The Downtown Port Elgin BIA Farmers' & Artisan Market is moving to a larger location and expanding its offerings this season. In addition to fresh produce, it will feature global cuisine, handmade crafts, furniture, and more. The new spot allows for a courtyard seating area and aims to create a destination showcasing local artisans and growers.

🛣️ Goderich Street in downtown Port Elgin will undergo $2.6 million in resurfacing work funded through Ontario's Connecting Links program. The program provides up to 90% funding for municipal roads/bridges connecting provincial highways. Local officials lauded the investment, noting the project's importance for businesses and residents. Work should finish by Spring 2025.

🛟 A $2,500 donation funded Saugeen Shores' new Life Jacket Loaner Program at Port Elgin Main Beach. Free life jackets for kids to adults are available to borrow to promote water safety. The mayor lauded the program for increasing accessibility to life-saving devices for residents and visitors to safely enjoy Lake Huron.

🐶 Grey Bruce Public Health is trying to identify the owner of a brown-and-white medium-sized dog, believed to be a Springer Spaniel, that bit a woman running on the Southampton boardwalk on May 17th. The leashed dog was with a grey-haired man in his 60s-70s. Confirming the dog's health status is needed to determine if the victim requires rabies treatment.

🏡 In The Community

👮‍♀️ Saugeen Shores Police Service hosted a community barbecue on May 16 to celebrate Police Week, featuring food, road hockey with Special Olympians, and information booths from police-related agencies to promote community relations.

🏛️ The Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual "Breakfast with Leadership" event on May 15th. Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb and Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau provided attendees with updates on federal and municipal affairs respectively, along with breakfast fare. The event allows local leaders to share the state of affairs with the business community.

🚴‍♂️ Support Port Elgin’s Brian Whitworth’s campaign to raise money for SickKids Cancer Foundation as part of his 500km bike ride. In the past for years he’s raised $22,000!
