💻 Bruce Telecom has completed a major fiber optic cable installation, bringing fiber-to-the-home internet to over 1,500 homes in Port Elgin, Paisley and Tiverton. This allows faster internet, whole-home WiFi, digital TV and home phone services. The CEO calls it an "exciting milestone" providing the most advanced internet technology.
🚍 FlixBus will begin offering intercity bus service between Owen Sound and Toronto starting May 30th, with 5 weekly trips. Stops include Meaford, Collingwood, Barrie and Pearson Airport. Tickets start at $33.99 CAD. FlixBus has an agreement with Owen Sound to use the transit terminal for a $500 monthly fee.
👩⚖️ Saugeen Shores councillors slammed a proposed policy to hold back 25% of their annual pay as a penalty for poor meeting attendance. They called it insulting, punitive and unnecessary, arguing that voters should judge their attendance records during elections. The policy was sent back to staff to remove the holdback provision.
🚔 The Saugeen Shores Police Service rewarded two young kids who called 911 and performed CPR on a stranger with gift cards and coupons through their Positive Ticketing campaign. The campaign aims to build positive relationships between police and youth by rewarding good behavior like wearing helmets or helping others.

👨💼 Saugeen Shores Mayor Charbonneau and Chamber officials did ribbon-cuttings for new businesses S'More Books, Beech's Garage, DH Osteopathy, and relocated businesses Hoof'n It Your Local Butcher and Powerlink flexible workspaces. The celebrations welcome new and relocated businesses, renovations, ownership changes, and anniversaries in the community.
🚶♀️The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's in Grey-Bruce raised over $65,000 for the local Alzheimer Society this past weekend, with walks held in multiple communities.
🏃♀️ Despite stomach cramps and back spasms, Port Elgin's Rachel Hannah was the top female Canadian finisher at the Ottawa Marathon, placing third overall with a time of 2:48:03.
